Personality Traits as a Source of Employee Competences

Jagna Ossowska

Abstract

Human resources have a significant influence on an organisation's effectiveness. When analysing an individual's effectiveness and professional success, it makes sense to focus on human personality. The purpose of this article is to determine whether certain personality traits make it easy or difficult to acquire specific skills. The author explains the concept of "competencies" and presents the structure of the five factor model of personality ("The Big Five"). The article also reports results of a questionnaire survey designed to determine whether there is a correlation between competencies and personality traits. (original abstract)
