Attitudes and Expectations of Employees Aged 50+

Abstract

Demographic forecasts for Poland indicate the inevitable aging of the population. Consequently, 50+ employees aged 50+ are becoming an important group in the current labour market. Are such employees less valuable than younger workers? How are they perceived by employers? The purpose of this article is describe attitudes of employees over 50 and their expectations concerning potential employers. The objective of this analysis is to formulate guidelines for employers in order to improve the professional situation of this group of employees. The analysis presented in the article is based on data collected by the author in a survey of economically active people over 50 and through in-depth individual interviews. (original abstract)
