The Impact of the Central Bank's Rates Changes on the Level of Interest Rates Paid on Loans - an Example Using the Cooperative Bank in Kościan

Paulina Adamczak

Abstract

Modern monetary policy is the interest rates policy. The central bank, while changing its interest rates, triggers the monetary transmission mechanism. This means that the central bank's rates should influence the interbank rates, and in turn, the rates paid on bank loans. The article focuses on the relationship between the changes of the National Bank of Poland's interest rates and the rates of loans for companies in the Cooperative Bank in Kościan. It also describes the other exogenous and endogenous factors influencing the interest rates of those loans. (original abstract)
