Author Guidelines

Text:

• in .doc, .docx, or .rtf format

• stripped of any elements that would identify the author (e.g., replace "As I indicated in the paper..." with the impersonal form "As indicated in the paper...")

Text length:

• up to 40,000 characters (including spaces), i.e., approx. 22 pages including tables and figures

Main text:

• margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

• page numbering: continuous, at the bottom of the page

• font: Times New Roman (with Polish characters), 12 pt

• line spacing: 1.5 lines

• emphasis: bold type

• foreign words: italics

• surnames: full name (first name and surname) upon first mention; surname only for subsequent mentions

• abbreviations: full term followed by the abbreviation in parentheses upon first mention; abbreviation only thereafter (e.g., United Kingdom (UK))

Text layout:

• author's/co-authors' full name(s)

• affiliation

• ORCID number (if available)

• e-mail address

• concise and factual abstract (up to 150 words) structured as follows: objective, methods, results, conclusions

• keywords (up to 8 words)

• Introduction

• main text divided into sections with headings

• conclusion (findings)

• bibliography

• article title in Polish

• concise and factual abstract in Polish (up to 150 words)

• keywords in Polish (up to 8 words)

Tables:

• numbered and provided with a title and source (e.g., author’s own work)

• cited in the text (e.g., Table 1, not: see table below/above)

• every cell filled with content

• abbreviations used in the table explained below it

Illustrations:

• formats: .tiff for bitmaps; .eps for vector files; .xls or .xlsx for charts

• bitmap resolution: 300 dpi; longer side: min. 15 cm

• numbered and provided with a source (e.g., author’s own work)

• free of: bold text, all-caps, white text on black backgrounds, solid black fills, extra borders

• cited in the text (e.g., Fig. 1, not: see figure below/above)

• abbreviations explained

Mathematical formulas:

• prepared using an equation editor

• correctly formatted superscripts and subscripts

• variables in italics; numbers and digits in upright (roman) type

• multiplication sign: · or × (not * or x)

• unit notation: SI standard

• symbols explained below the formula

In-text citations (APA 7 style):

• include the author's surname and the year of publication, e.g.:
  Dennett (2021) or (Dennett, 2021)

• for two authors – list both surnames:
  Mankiw and Taylor (2022)… or (Mankiw and Taylor, 2022)

• direct quotations (enclosed in quotation marks):
  Dennett (2021, p. 34) or (Dennett, 2021, p. 34)

• citing three or more authors – list the first author's surname and add "et al.":
  Begg et al. (2023)… or (Begg et al., 2023)

• no author/editor name – provide the first few words of the work's title:
  (Report on Readership, 2022)

• citing more than one publication:
  Dennett (2017, 2019, 2021) or (Dennett, 2017, 2019, 2021)

• if an author published more than one work in a given year, add sequential letters of the alphabet after the date, e.g.
  (Dennett, 2019a, 2019b)

• citing sources via another author (only in special cases):
  Jabłoński (2020) cited in: Dennett (2017) or (Jabłoński, 2020, cited in: Dennett, 2017)

Explanatory, polemical, or supplementary footnotes – numbered sequentially and placed at the bottom of the page; 10 pt font, single spacing.

Bibliography:

• arranged alphabetically by the surnames of authors/editors and by the titles of works lacking an author/editor; if there are multiple works by the same author, list them chronologically by publication date.

• journal article – author’s surname, first name initial, publication date (in parentheses), article title (plain text), journal title (italics), volume (italics) and issue number (plain text), page range, and (if provided) DOI:
