Abstract
The purpose of this article is to describe the role of implementing the principles of sustainable development in tourism industry and show how tourism development depends on the state of the natural environment. The authors analyse the characteristics of sustainable development in tourism, describe the implementation of sustainable development through international declarations and legal acts, and track trends in modern tourism. They also discuss the importance of cross-border tourism from the perspective of sustainable development and the role of environmental education in sustainable tourism development. Emphasis is placed on the understanding of the laws of nature for sustainable human existence.(original abstract)Keywords:
