Tourism of Disabled People

Michał Preisler

Abstract

Tourism requires from people some special predispositions: both - psychological and physical. It is always connected with breaking some barriers and it concerns people who are healthy as well as the disabled. However, people with disabilities are those who are affected by it in a more considerable way. It is commonly thought that the greatest obstacles for tourism of a disabled person are architectural, equipment and communication limitations. Usually, a psychological barrier is mentioned last, if it is mentioned at all. In fact, it is on the contrary. The psychological barrier should be universally recognized as basic in tourism of disabled people. No less important is the appropriate organization of tourist events for disabled people.(original abstract)
