The Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on the European Economy: A First Glance and Long-term Perspectives

Abstract
The paper outlines the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economies of EU member states. The analysis of short- and long-term effects of the pandemic is based on data about the intra- and extra-EU trade balance, imports and exports and takes into account possible future effects, possible multiplier effects as well as ways of improving the economic policy aimed at minimizing present and long-term risks for the EU economy.(original abstract)Keywords:
