The Role of Banks in Forming Sustainable Local and Regional Development

Abstract
This paper identifies banks as important entities that directly and indirectly influence the shape of socio-economic order on a local and regional scale. The author postulates redefining of the ancillary role of banking (in respect to commercial banks) and a broader interpretation of this role. The paper aims to present the potential for increasing the usefulness of the banking sector in building socio-economic order in line with sustainable development principles.(original abstract)Keywords:
