The Effect of Tax Optimization on Financial Liquidity of SMEs

Andrzej Stolarski

Abstract

Polish small and medium-sized enterprises have a number of income and VAT taxation schemes to choose from. Most options are available to individuals running one-man businesses and to their partnerships. The choice of whichever option entails financial consequences taking the form of tax-related liabilities. A business that has not properly premeditated the choice of tax scheme might incur excessive tax liabilities, leading to a loss of, or a decline in, liquidity. This paper represents an attempt to delineate the criteria that entrepreneurs should be guided by in choosing an optimal taxation scheme in terms of their tax liabilities and liquidity.(original abstract)
