China's Economic Growth and Its Emergence as the World's Leading Business Hub

Marcin Jałowiecki

Abstract

This article describes the macroeconomic outlook for China by 2030 in fields indicated by the recent 3rd Plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC Central Committee). The party leaders marked out reform plans, mostly economic ones, and announced their commitment to the market's "decisive role" in the economy. The country will attempt to maintain its economic growth by shifting from an economy based on investment, to a consumption- and services-driven economy. In recent years, many companies have moved their headquarters to China, making China's biggest cities emerge as major economic centers of the world. It becomes clear that China's economy, to be able to continue to develop, have to undergo profound changes aimed at triggering further GDP growth.(original abstract)
