The Specificity of Academic Enterprise Management in Poland

Abstract
Firstly, article explores: the specificity of the academic enterprise of so-called spinoff (or spin-out) companies; the development of academic enterprises in Poland, as compared to other countries; showing the barriers encountered by academic enterprises in our country. Secondly, the article describes: the characteristics of initiatives promoting and supporting academic enterprise in Poland (technology parks, enterprise incubators); and the significance of university and college-level school support for the development of academic enterprise. Finally, the article touches on the subjects of: the characteristics of academic workers as knowledge workers; the specificity of academic workers as potential entrepreneurs (looking at their potential and their deficits); and the development perspectives for academic enterprise in Poland: the chances and risks involved.(original abstract)Keywords:
