Corporate Social Responsibility as a Market Mechanism of Corporate Governance

Abstract

In the context of economic globalization, corporate social responsibility (CSR) appears as a market mechanism of corporate governance. CSR, which is a private initiative and a voluntary effort of individual companies, fills some void space of governance. CSR complements the existing mechanisms of corporate governance in the various institutional configurations, especially in developing countries where formal institutions operate poorly. In times of growing competition and increasing customer requirements, gaining confidence is important in shaping company relationships within business and social environment. This also advances the building of credibility of the company and its reputation.(original abstract)
