The Development Level of the Mazowieckie Voivodship Rural-Urban Communes

Abstract
The aim of the article is to determine the level of urban-rural communes development in Mazowieckie vioividship. The contact-related, formal and statistical criteria were applied to select a group of variables. In the next stage the synthetic index for urban-rural communes in Mazowieckie Voivodship was elaborated using the method of standardized sums. Data source for 2010 was a Local Data Bank prepared by Central Census Bureau. The comparative analysis took into account urban-rural communes belonging to Mazowieckie Voivodship subregions, There were used comparisons the relative level of urban-rural communes development to 2004 and to other types of communes. It was noticed that there is a clear difference in the level of urban-rural communes development in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship between subregions. Taking into account the value of development index, ciechanowsko-płocki and ostrołęcko-siedlecki subregions are characterized by the least favorable structure. It was found that for 70% of urban-rural the Mazowieckie Voivodship communes reported increase the rate of development index compared to 2004. (original abstract)Keywords:
