European Union Funds as a Tool of Stimulating Entrepreneurship in Regions

Abstract
The aim of the paper was the assessment of impact of EU funds on the development of the SMEs sector in Poland. The conducted analysis proved that in 2004-2010 years the number of enterprises increased in all provinces with the exception of Podlasie and Łódź. Moreover, the indicator of the number of enterprises calculated por 1000 inhibitans shows the smaller level of development of entrepreneurship in eastern voivodeship. However, it is important that entrepreneurs just from these provinces pointed out the highest activating applying for European Union funds within analyzed suport programs. It is possibile to suppose that those actions will contribute to the improvement of competitiveness of these regions. (original abstract)Keywords:
