The Crisis of Public Finances or the Crisis of the State Functions

Abstract
The article presents the debt level of EU Member States in the years 1999-2011,and changes in debt level in 2011 compared to 2007. Against this background, the form used for reducing public spending were characterised and their effectiveness rated. In conclusion, the article stated that the public finances crisis is caused by the crisis in the functions of state understood as tasks for which the implementation of the state took over the responsibilities and goals to be achieved through its implementation, and as long as the functions of the state are not reformed, any efforts to diminish the effects of the so-called crisis in public finances, will remain only marking activity.(original abstract)Keywords:
