The Impact of the Current Financial Crisis on the Competitive Position of Andorra and Monaco - the European Tax Havens

Abstract
For many years, Andorra and Monaco - two diminutive European principalities - have been attracting wealthy individuals, capitalizing on their geographical proximity to developed countries that maintain considerably higher tax burdens. Their consistent Policy to not apply direct taxation, coupled with a high level of security and the ever expanding range of financial services offered, has made Andorra and Monaco major European off-shore centers that have a particularly strong appeal to individuals. The paper explores the impact of the ongoing financial crisis on the competitive position of these two territories and on their popularity with wealthy Europeans.(original abstract)Keywords:
