A Woman-Friendly Crisis - Public Order Institutions Facing the Problem of Gender and Its Role in the Contemporary Job Market

Anna Wziątek-Staśko

Abstract

As the surrounding reality keeps changing and the business world never stops evolving, so does the perception of gender in the workplace - both in Poland and worldwide. Demands that contemporary businesses be no longer viewed through the prism of deeprooted but utterly obsolete gender stereotypes are voiced more often than ever. The paper enlarges on how male and female roles are defined these days by public order institutions, including the Border Guard, which continue to be seen (in accord with prevalent stereotypes) as "unwomanly" services. It also reflects on how progressive the modern Job market has become and to what extent it is able to rise to upcoming challenges.(original abstract)
