Abstract

The paper contains an overview of the concepts of open source software and open content. These concepts, usually regarded as related only to the technology itself or to the process of cultural content creation and analyzed separately, are described herein as manifestations of the same process of digitization of whole of human knowledge. This process, resulting in conflicts mentioned in the paper will result, in the long run, in several cultural and civilization changes, the importance of which we are not able to predict presently.
