The Role of Ontologies in Business Relations

Abstract

The emergence of modern Web technologies and their importance in contemporary economics makes the subject of ontologies more important than ever. The paper presents possibilities of applying ontologies in establishing and managing business relations of different business models. The author points the importance and new opportunities of exploiting ontologies in B2B, B2C, F2B (finance to business) and A2B (administration to business) relations. Also the examples of some upper-level and domain ontologies, that can be used in e-business and have been briefly presented. (original abstract)
