Risk Reducing Methods of Private Equity/venture Capital Investments in Poland

Abstract

Nearly 200 companies from Central and Eastern Europe received private equity financing in 2008 with a third of those located in Poland. Risk management in various forms is fundamental to the success of private equity fund. Portfolio diversification across investment stages is one of the risk reducing method applied by private equity funds in Poland. Comparing the distribution of investments types to Europe as a whole, seed and start-up investments are at a much lower level in Poland (only 3% in 2008).(original abstract)
