Globalization Processes Costs and Benefits

Ewa Polak

Abstract

Globalization is one of the most frequently used notions describing the contemporary world and changes occurring in it. It represents simultaneusly the great chance and threat to the countries, enterprises and people (to their development and prosperity). Globalization concerns the all sphere of life in XXI century. The economic aspect of globalization is explained as the increase of scale of mobility, deregulation of economy and integration of markets. The lasting tendencies in contemporary world are: increase in the number of "not national" strong participants of international relations, and powerful concentration of wealth and power. The countries are becoming more and more vulnerable to external pressures. The consequences of globalization are asimmetrical and depend on economic potential of countries, their competitiveness and government's policy. (original abstract)
