Abstract

This study investigates the ecological awareness and legal understanding of environmental obligations among Polish entrepreneurs. Employing a diagnostic survey method through Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI), the research garnered insights from entrepreneurs across various sectors. Findings reveal a moderate level of ecological awareness, with 44% of respondents acknowledging a medium impact of their business on the environment. However, a significant legal knowledge and compliance gap was noted, especially among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), attributed mainly to a need for more resources for implementing eco-friendly measures. Despite the legal pressures and growing recognition of sustainability's importance, most SMEs need more external support in fulfilling environmental obligations, highlighting a need for enhanced training and awareness programs.
