The article examines the potential of ChatGPT 3.5 as a tool supporting the process of creating lesson plans for adult English language learners. The study focuses on generating two advanced-level (B2) lesson plans using this language model and evaluates their conformity with key elements of a good lesson plan as presented by H. Komorowska and J. Harmer. As indicated by the study results, the first lesson plan is detailed; however, it lacks adequate methods for assessing student progress and analyzing potential problems. On the other hand, the second lesson plan, despite some advantages, exhibits significant deficiencies such as imprecise definition of lesson objectives and lack of detailed task descriptions and teaching materials. The conclusion drawn from the study is the potential utility of ChatGPT 3.5 in supporting the creation of lesson plans; nonetheless, it highlights the necessity for precise formulation of prompts and verification of generated content by teachers to ensure high-quality educational materials.
