The aim of this article is to examine the role of syntactic element analysis in the development of specialised linguistic competence at university level. The competence is crucial for effective communication in fields such as science, technology, medicine or law. Knowledge of the specific syntactic structures that characterise specialised texts makes it possible to convey information accurately and clearly. This paper shows how syntactic analysis can support the teaching of specialised languages, enabling students to better understand advanced linguistic constructions. To this end, the results of a project work by students of applied linguistics, using Italian as an example, were used. Their study included the identification of sentence structures typical of the field, such as the passive side, nominalization, elision and the specific use of implicit verb forms, among others. Research shows that the ability to recognise and use these syntactic elements is essential for language proficiency in specialised contexts.
