The Mechanisms of Credit Derivatives in the Light of the Literature

Abstract

Credit derivatives are classified as innovative derivative instruments. There are many forms of credit derivatives in the literature, which differ in complexity. The purpose of this article is to systematize the knowledge relating to credit derivatives by comparing and describing these instruments and underlining their role in credit risk management. Credit derivatives were classified by type, subject of transaction, level of complexity and accounting method. The article is based on numerous sources and provides structured knowledge about credit derivatives, highlighting the basic features of these instruments.(original abstract)
