Support of the Air Force by Civilian Logistics Companies

Bogdan Grenda

Abstract

There are 29 military airfields (18 in use) in Poland, which belong to various military branches: the Land Force, the Navy and the Air Force. Lessons learned from past military conflict demonstrate that military airfields are among the main targets for the enemy. Therefore, it seems highly justified to employ civilian logistics companies to secure the operational continuity of military airfields. The author describes characteristics of a military airfield and analyses possibilities of cooperation with civilian logistics companies. The article ends with proposals of solutions to challenges that can be encountered when trying to establish collaboration with civilian enterprises as providers of logistics support for military airfields.(original abstract)
