Human Capital as a Determinant of Innovation Activities in Microenterprises

Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to describe the role and importance of employees in the process of innovation activities in microenterprises. The second aim is to identify opportunities for stimulating innovation through better human capital management. The article contains considerations about the significance of human capital in the process of organization development and innovation activity, the role of microenterprises in the Polish economy, the level of development, sources of innovation in microenterprises and barriers to innovation activities. The key part of the article is the description of areas of human capital management that are crucial for innovation in microenterprises. The theoretical considerations are supported with results of empirical studies described in the literature and other available research reports.(original abstract)
