Appraisal of Local Government Impact on the Tourist Function of Poznan - the Stage of Strategy Building

Abstract
The article defines and describes the tourist function of a region and underlines the role of local government in its stimulation. The author proposes a classification of measures available to city authorities to stimulate tourism and describes the tasks of local government and its influences on the surroundings in the course of strategy implementation. The survey results were used to evaluate methods employed by the City of Poznan authorities to stimulate tourism development in the strategy implementation phase. They showed that the available instruments of influencing demand and supply were not utilised to a sufficient degree.(original abstract)Keywords:
