Transport Accessibility and Investment Attractiveness of Polish Regions

Monika Musiał-Malago'

Abstract

Well developed transportation infrastructure is one of the most important factors of economic growth. Negligence in transportation infrastructure means that a large part of Polish regions are characterized by low transport accessibility. Low transport accessibility reduces the potential spread of development processes in the areas which are pillars of growth to the less developed areas. This causes difficulties to eliminate the processes of marginalizationand peripherisation of areas of the country. The author examined the differences in transport accessibility of regions in Poland by taxonomic methods in 2012. Calculated synthetic indicators were used to investigate the impact of transport accessibility on the investment attractiveness of regions in Poland. The study was conducted at regional level (NUTS2). (original abstract)
