The Models and Methods of Health Financing

Abstract
Over the last several years, a number of controversies have arisen in science and in practice regarding the financing mechanisms for health services. A rich variety of models and methods of health financing are in place in different countries, aligned with their specific political systems and economic development levels. Poland is yet to develop a model that would represent a consensus between all stakeholders, particularly between patients and service providers. This paper overviews the strengths and weaknesses of the different mechanisms and approaches as well as the macroeconomic constraints on their use. The discussion also takes into account the diversity of health services and the ongoing commercialization of health care units.(original abstract)Keywords:
