Size of the Public Sector in Poland

Abstract

This article attempts to estimate the size of the public sector in Poland. This sector plays an important role in the economy and country. Through its structure, a considerable part of the public funds passes, as well as it employs a relatively large group of employees. It is possible to gather information about the functioning of market mechanisms by analyzing the share of public spending and jobs. To some extent, gathered information can show the size of the state as a whole. This is important from the standpoint of governance and public administration costs in the light of the postulates of the state to lower limits of expenditure for administrative purposes.(original abstract)
