The Debt of Local Governments and their Investment Activities

Abstract
The article aims to examine the relation between the level of local and regional governments' (LRGs) debt and their investment activity. Analyses of those relations have allowed to verify the hypothesis that LRGs have used liabilities to finance investment projects to a large extent. Correlation analyses as well as simple regression models show the clear evidence of the positive relationship between the value of investment expenditure of LRGs and the amounts of their debts. It can be concluded that the hypothesis has been verified positively.(original abstract)Keywords:
