Social Conceptions of Content Classification in Knowledge Management Systems in Enterprises

Abstract

Dynamic growth of Web 2.0 impacts on functioning of enterprises. One of the most interesting applications of Web 2.0 in business is an adaptation of social conceptions of content classification in knowledge management systems. Unconventional approach to content classification, coming from scattered information environment and taking the form of social bookmarking and wiki mechanisms have a chance to support processes of formalizing information flows inside the enterprise. The aim of this paper is to present the specificity of social conceptions of content classification in the context of their business applications and the analysis of their potential in the range of supporting knowledge management in enterprises.
