Cloud Computing Services : Offer of the Market vs. User Needs

Bogdan Pilawski

Abstract

Cloud Computing is not only just a new way of how IT services are provided and delivered, but also the new approach to how to use them. As any new offering, it comprises a degree of uncertainty and many unknowns, while the promise of substantial cost savings is meant to attract users. It seems however that at this stage any attempt to transfer the critical IT systems into this environment would be to risky and premature. The market offer in this area keeps changing almost daily, and this paper undertakes to present some of those changes for the last year (since Autumn 2008), and also to indicate and to discuss major risks involved, as seen by prospective users.
