The Impact of UCITS Directive on the Polish Investment Funds' Market

Grzegorz Borowski

Abstract

Directive UCITS IV that was aimed to strengthen international competition on single market of investment funds, will come into force in July 2011. The main objective of the amendment was to eliminate legal restrictions that increase the costs and at the same time do not improve the level of investor protection. Directive UCITS IV may alter the structure of the Polish investments' fund market by opening the market widely to competition of foreign funds, but also by simplifying the procedures related to creation and distribution of the Polish investment funds.
