The Impact of Euro Area Rescue Plans on the Operation of Commercial Banks

Abstract
Deficiencies in financial market supervision and the lack of effective instruments to reduce structural disparities among Euro area economies have exacerbated the financial crisis. Legislative proposals and effective changes implemented at the EU level may help improve the situation in European finances. This paper attempts to describe some of the Euro area rescue packages and to outline relevant European initiatives, particularly those targeted at the EMU states banking sector. The period of study focuses on the year 2008 through 2012.(original abstract)Keywords:
