Abstract

This article is aiming at presenting the association between the COVID-19 pandemic and the football “ecosystem” (understood as a set of clubs, competitions, players, fans, broadcast-ers, sponsors and umbrella organizations). Analyses of actions, taken to neutralize the effects of the COVID-19 crisis, were undertaken. We tried to reveal challenges of the football “ecosystem” which were revealed to a greater extent by the pandemic situation. The research used the method of secondary sources analysis consisting of both scientific publications and commercial reports. The conducted analysis showed significant losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic both in the economic and social spheres of the entire football “ecosystem.” The overlapping of the processes resulting from crisis management during the pandemic in all components of the football “ecosys-tem” led to a greater financial disparities between clubs and leagues.
