Dilemmas of Credit Cooperative Development in Poland

Abstract
Credit cooperatives in Poland include two different forms of institutions, co-operative banks and cooperative savings and credit unions. The paper identifies the common dilemmas for these market institutions and puts in order according to entities with decision-making authority the level of co-operatives, associations of cooperatives and government. In the activities of the Polish credit cooperatives the same dilemmas can be found. The extent of social dimension in their activities should be regarded as fundamental. The range of social dimension affects the number of decisions of the individual units (such as active membership base, locality, purpose of cooperatives).(original abstract)Keywords:
