Abstract

One of the most widely used approaches to diagnosing organizational culture is the Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) developed by Kim Cameron and Robert Quinn. The OCAI is based on a theoretical model known as the Competing Values Framework. This article tests reliability of the conceptual model of organizational culture referred to as construct consisted of the four dominant culture types: clan, adhocracy, hierarchy, and market. Each culture type (regarding current culture model and preferred culture model) was operationalized as a latent variable. Testing for reliability was done using model for congeneric tests of Classical Test Theory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The described approach to the modelling of organizational culture of a higher education institution has been used at Cracow University of Economics and done based on its students' opinions.(original abstract)
