The Effectiveness of Acquiring Capital to Finance Innovative Projects on the NewConnect

Abstract
The economic development both on a national as well as on local scale depends on the competitive advantage. Building such advantage in a modern economy should be based on the introduction of new technological solutions. Innovation is in fact one of the pillars of market success and development in the current economic realities. One of the most important innovative enterprises growth barriers is a weak financial condition of Polish companies, and thus the lack of funds for research and development. In August 2007 the alternative trading system (ATS) called NewConnect was established in Poland. This way the Polish small and medium enterprises have gained access to new equity funds. The article aims to analyze the effectiveness of acquiring equity capital on NewConnect in order to finance innovative enterprises.(original abstract)Keywords:
