Online health - patients' use of the internet and its impact on accessibility to health services

Karolina Sokołowska

Abstract

With increasing socio-economic development and an ageing population, new ways to improve access to health services are constantly being sought. One of the key tools to support this process is the internet, which plays an important role in the acquisition of health information and the use of eHealth services. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) enable patients to actively participate in the treatment process, improve communication with medical staff and can have a positive impact on the healthcare system. The aim of this article is to analyse the ways in which patients use the Internet, identifying the benefits and potential risks of digitising access to healthcare services.
