Threats and Benefits in the Application of AI

brak

Abstract

Abstract.
The text provides a comprehensive analysis of artificial intelligence (AI), covering its definitions, development, and the most important benefits and risks associated with its implementation.

The first part presents various approaches to the concept of artificial intelligence – from the classic definitions of McCarthy, Haugeland, Kurzweil and Rich & Knight to the contemporary approaches of the OECD, which treat AI as a system capable of perceiving the environment, modelling information and making decisions based on input data. Key areas of AI are also explained, such as machine learning, NLP, image recognition, robotics and expert systems.

The second part of the text discusses the risks arising from the dynamic development of AI. Particular emphasis is placed on cybersecurity, pointing to the growing number of phishing, ransomware and deepfake attacks, as well as the use of AI by cybercriminals to automate and intensify attacks. The risk of privacy violations, mass tracking of user data and the dangers associated with the military use of artificial intelligence are also highlighted. The author draws attention to rapid changes in the labour market, the automation of professions and forecasts of mass job losses, particularly in the office and technical sectors. At the same time, he points out that AI cannot replace human creativity, empathy and soft skills.

The third part describes the benefits and competitive advantages of implementing AI. Its application in many industries is discussed, including medicine (more accurate diagnostics), transport (autonomous vehicles), finance (risk analysis, fraud detection) and marketing and AR technologies. It is pointed out that AI enables process optimisation, automation of routine tasks and increased operational efficiency. Examples of companies that have successfully leveraged AI development are also presented, including Comarch, which offers AI-based solutions to support business operations.

The conclusion emphasised the growing momentum of AI implementations in business and the significant increase in the number of companies using these technologies. The author states that although AI brings numerous benefits, its implementation must take into account the role of humans — it is the combination of algorithms and human experience that allows the best results to be achieved. The need for responsible management of artificial intelligence is also emphasised, especially in the context of privacy, transparency and security.
